The aim of Cress is to represent brands from all over the world within the UK health food sector and increase their profiles over the long-term to provide new employment for people within a rural setting.
In the days before mechanised farming, thousands of people lived and worked on or near farms all over the UK. Today, one productive agricultural unit consists of 2500 acres and employs roughly 4 people. Through locating in a rural area, Cress seeks to increase the number of people employed in that area.
The name Cress Ltd comes from a valley in the middle of an East Suffolk farm where watercress grows abundantly in the dykes. The land in which it grows is within an area of outstanding natural beauty and the reeds and marshes around provide a habitat for the bittern.
Cress eventually aims to support local employment within this area with the company objective to employ 25 people over 25 years.
